That looks like Gutter oil which is quite common in parts of Asia.
Edit: I added “Parts of” to be more politically correct.
Literal definition of Gutter Oil from Wikipedia is reused cooking oil that has already been cooked for longer than safety codes permit.

My brother is the type of mofo that would eat that type of stuff too. He’s also one of the types where he feels he has to eat EVERYTHING on his plate no matter how he’s feeling. Probably a reason his BP consistently runs 165/105

That oil has been passed down from generation to generation. I bet he’s cooking with the same oil Noah was using on the ark.

Ok, so at this point I’ve seen a bunch of similiar videos, with different vendors making eggs in nearly identical fashion in this dark brown oil. Does anyone every post these with, you know, context? I see people immediately saying the oil is ancient, or that it’s gutter oil, but it seems to be pure speculation. There are a lot of different oils that different cultures use to cook in, some of which are very dark; like if you told me that this was black sesame oil, I’d be a little skeptical, but I wouldn’t be able to definitely say you were a liar. Does anyone have actual expierience with this kind of street food?

I’m sure there is some dingbat in the comments whose sharing how this a traditional dish in that country and seen as a delicacy and that they aren’t actually frying in motor oil but actually repurpose diarrhea water to obtain the unique taste.
